A leading Irish energy provider, Bord Gáis Energy is responsible for delivering gas, electricity & home team energy services to over 1,000,000 industrial, commercial and residential customers. Applications are now invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Commercial Lawyer, Cork.
Purpose
Reporting to a Senior Commercial Lawyer based in Cork, the Commercial Lawyer will be primarily responsible for providing legal support to the Assets function of the business. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong decision making skills along with an ability to plan and prioritise their work along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
• Drafting and negotiation of a wide variety of legal agreements (contracts for supply of services, consultancy contracts, I.T. contracts, supplier furnished terms and conditions).
• Assisting with the drafting and negotiation of energy related construction contracts (primarily wind farms). This shall include managing the interfaces with both internal departments and external advisors from the initial development phase through to the contract signing and construction phases.
• Advising in relation to financing of transactions to include facilitating legal due diligence, assisting with putting in place appropriate facility agreements and associated security as well as dealing with the legal documentation required for tax based investment schemes.
• Advising, researching and reporting on specific legal issues that arise from time to time e.g. company law, procurement law, energy law.
• Assisting the business units with preparation of documentation for the company secretarial department for board approval and execution.
• Assisting with land agreements required for wind farm developments – primarily in conjunction with external Solicitors but also as primary legal advisor where required.
• Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications/Requirements
• Irish qualified Solicitor with preferably between 2 and 4 years post qualification experience
• Experience in commercial contracts essential but with experience in energy, construction, land, procurement, finance/banking an advantage
• Act on own initiative in being able to identify and analyze problems and potential improvements
• Experience with identifying improvement opportunities, generating ideas and implementing solutions
• Due to the nature of the role, flexibility in working hours will be required and occasional travel within Ireland
• Good inter-personal skills with an ability to deal with a broad range of issues and business areas.
