This is an exciting opportunity to work in an innovative tourism, heritage and education project in Roscahill, Co. Galway, with award-winning Celtic-themed gardens. Brigit’s Garden is a not-for-profit project that is largely self-financing. The challenge of this new position is to develop our visitor services commercially within the ethos of the project. We are looking for an exceptional person who is passionate about developing the Brigit’s Garden brand and has the drive and experience to grow the business in today’s challenging environment.

Brigit’s Garden has a small, committed staff team, led by the Project Director, who reports to the Board of Trustees.

The job will entail

  • Hands-on, day-to-day management of visitor reception and hospitality, the café and catering, functions and special events, and retail services
  • Ensuring excellent customer service so that every customer can ‘experience the magic’
  • Making full use of the newly-extended Visitor Centre to expand and develop the services
  • Leading innovative marketing and PR strategies
  • Developing the Brigit’s Garden brand, and a brand identity for the café and food services
  • Financial reporting, pricing and operating financial targets
  • Promoting teamwork; motivating and leading relevant staff
The sucessful candidate will:

  • Demonstrable management experience in hospitality, catering or tourism
  • A track record in providing excellent customer service
  • Leadership, teamwork, communication and people skills
  • Skills in marketing and PR, including e-marketing
  • Relevant IT and financial skills
It would be an advantage to have an interest in heritage and environmental issues, and competency in Irish and European languages.

This is a full time position with some weekend and evening work. The person appointed will have the opportunity to grow the business and see this reflected in their remuneration package. If you have what it takes we would be happy to hear from you.
